Dalbeattie is often called the granite burgh of the
south due to the thriving granite industry in the area. The small
town is picturesque with most houses and buildings built with local
granite. Dalbeattie is in the perfect location for recreational
activities, with tennis courts, a large recreational park, golf
courses, walks and fishing facilities in the area. Also, nature
lovers will be interested in the Bird Sanctuary on Rough Island
and the hill fort Mote of Mark at Rockcliffe. |
